Female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) is a harmful tradition involving partial or total removal of the external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons that can result in serious consequences. forma is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising awareness of FGM/C; offering culturally sensitive mental health support services to survivors and providing psychoeducational training with the aim of protecting future generations.
forma – healing, awareness, an end to FGM/C
Who we are
forma is also dedicated to providing comprehensive, culturally sensitive clinical and educational services tailored to individual women and families affected by FGC in the Chicago area.
FGM/C is a highly personal and sensitive issue, and there may be reluctance among many of you to disclose information due to feelings of shame or fears of being judged as different.
